Turkey's deputy foreign minister reiterated Ankara's continued support on Nov. 12 for the Libyan Government National Unity and the political process.

Sedat Önal spoke at an International Conference on Libya in Paris that was co-chaired by France, Germany and Italy. He said it was very important that Libyans joined the group.

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Önal underscored Turkey's strong support for Libya's security and stability on Oct. 21. 

Turkey on March 10 welcomed Libya's parliament voiced confidence in the new government formed by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh.

"We welcome the Government of National Unity, which Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh proposed to the Libyan House of Representatives on March 10, 2021," the Foreign Ministry said in a written statement.

Turkey hopes Libya's Government of National Unity (GNU) will be swiftly formed through the confidence vote session to take place on March 8, urging the historic opportunity should not be wasted for the sake of some countries' calculations and ambitions in Libya.

Libya's new Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh described Turkey as a "friend and ally," saying his government will work to achieve peace in war-torn Libya.
Dbeibeh's remarks came in an exclusive interview with Anadolu Agency, his first interview ever after being elected to lead an interim government.

Greece on Saturday announced plans to reopen its embassy in Tripoli, the Libyan capital.

The announcement by the Greek Foreign Ministry came a day after UN sponsored talks produced a new interim government for Libya aimed at resolving a decade of chaos, division and violence by holding national elections later this year.

Greece welcomed on Friday the election of a new transitional government for Libya which took place in Geneva supported by the UN Support Mission in Libya.

Mohammad Younes Menfi on Friday was elected the president of Libya's interim government, and Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibah the prime minister in the Presidency Council.

Turkey on Jan. 22 welcomed a recent compromise between the warring sides in Libya on a mechanism to appoint a temporary executive authority in the country. 

The U.K. and Italy remained in agreement on finding a political solution to the conflict in Libya.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Italian counterpart Giuseppe Conte met in London at the launch of COP26 -- UN climate change summit, which is due in Glasgow in November.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump discussed developments in Libya in a phone call, Turkey's presidency said on Wednesday, days ahead of a summit in Berlin which will address the Libyan conflict.
