The last time âMare Nostrumâ(Latin for âOur Seaâ) was used as a political slogan in Italy, Mussoliniâs fascists were claiming dominance over the entire Mediterranean. This time itâs different. Itâs the name of the operation the Italian navy is running to save asylum seekers from drowning on the dangerous voyage in open boats from North Africa to Italy.

Bulgaria Busts Int'l Antiquities Trafficking Ring
The State Agency for National Security (DANS) has intercepted an international antiquities trafficking ring from Bulgaria to countries in Western Europe, US and Russia.
The special operation was conducted on August 21 under the supervision of the prosecuting authority, according to the press office of DANS.

NATO Plans New Eastern European Bases along Russia’s Borders
NATO chief has said the alliance plans to deploy its forces at new bases in eastern Europe in response to the crisis in Ukraine and to address a new Russian military approach.
The Guardian quoted NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen as saying the alliance's summit in Wales next week would overcome divisions within the alliance and agree to new deployments on Russia’s borders.
Foreign Visitors To Bulgaria Increase In July
Number of foreign visitors to Bulgaria grew by 4.9% in July 2014, year-on-year, according to data of the National Statistics Institute (NSI).
The total number of foreigners was 1 792 500. Of them 61.6% were from other EU countries.

Romania ForMin hails 23rd anniversary of Republic of Moldova independence
The Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry hails Wednesday's 23rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Moldova's independence and stresses Romania was the first state to have recognised the neighbouring country's independence in 1991, the ministry said in a release to AGERPRES.
