Private sector umbrella union plans walkout on May 8
The General Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE) has called for a 24-hour nationwide strike on Sunday, May 8 to coincide with the opening of shops.
ADEDY calls for 24-hour strike on Thursday
Greece’s public sector union (ADEDY) has called a 24-hour strike against the planned social security reforms which will take place on April 7.
Journalists in Greece will participate in the strike and as a result new will not be published or transmitted from 06.00 on Thursday until 06.00 on Friday.

24-hour national strike on Thursday called by Public Servants union (ADEDY)
All doctors’ and medical staff associations have announced they would participate in the 24 hour national strike called by the national Civil Servants’ Association (ADEDY) for Thursday. The Greek unions are protesting against the proposed changes in the social security system the Greek government is putting forward to close a review by its creditors.
Turkish government seeks 'flexible' labor act
The government has met some of Turkey's major unions on March 31 ahead of major planned labor-law reforms that would allow private employment agencies to create temporary working relations.
Labor Ministry deputy undersecretary Ali Kemal Say?n said the changes were needed to harmonize the law with directives from the European Union and the International Labor Organization.

One out of two households are below poverty line
A report published by the Institute for the Study of Labour of General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) shows that almost one out of two households (48%) are below poverty line.
According to the report, 20.9% of households cannot meet their basic needs, while the percentage concerning the unemployed reach 43.4%.

More than 50,000 people protest against govt’s measures in today’s protest rallies
On Thursday the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) and the Greek Civil Servants’ Confederation (ADEDY) have declared a general strike where almost all labour unions participate.
The main protest rally started at 11:00 am on Klafthmonos Square, while PAME (labour union affiliated to Communist Party) had decided to hold its own rally which started at 10:30 in Omonia.

Olympic Airs: 16 flights canceled in stop-work action
Olympic Air is taking part in a four-hour work stoppage by the telecommunications staff of Greece’s Civil Aviation Authority. The stop-work action is part of a general strike announced by the country’s two main unions, ADEDY and GSEE.
Labour unions escalate protest actions with nationwide strike on Thursday
The the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) and the Greek Civil Servants’ Confederation (ADEDY) will hold a strike on February 4 to protest against the government’s planned social security reforms.
Public transport is also disrupted on Tuesday, February 2, as there are no services on the Athens metro, tram, electric railway (ISAP) between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
No trains and urban railway services on Thursday
Trains and urban railway will not run on Thursday due to a 24hour strike declared by GSEE (General Confederation of Greek Workers) and ADEDY (Civil Servants Labour Union).
All train services scheduled to depart after Wednesday midnight will not be conducted, while metro service to the airport will not be carried out during the 24hour strike.
