Commission refers Greece to EU Court over hospitals’ delayed payments to suppliers

The European Commission decided on Wednesday to refer Greece to the EU's Court of Justice for not applying correctly the rules under the Late Payment Directive.

The Late Payment Directive obliges public authorities to pay their invoices within 30 days (or 60 days for public health authorities).

Residents of Western Bulgaria serviced by the electricity distribution company "Electrohold" now have a hassle-free way to settle their electricity bills online. The company has announced the launch of a virtual point-of-sale (POS) terminal on its website, allowing customers to make payments without the need for registration.

Mobile app for invoice issue

Taxpayers and businesses will be able to issue invoices and consignment notes through their cellphones, while at the same time they will be able to make tax payments.

Essentially, the company's accounting will be in an app designed by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), which will be activated within the year.

Kosovo Customs also determined that the company had increased the cost of recent imports of passports and identity cards.

Despite these issues, the company still has an ongoing contract with the Kosovo ministry, which claims it did not have any information on these alleged irregularities.
