The American School of Classical Studies at Athens is hosting a webinar titled "Monuments for 1821: Fruitless Proposals for a Panhellenic Heroon." The event will host Dr Dora Markatou, former Associate Professor at the Department of History and Archeology of the University of Ioannina, as guest speaker.
Heavy rain causes flooding in northwestern Greece
Many parts of northwestern Greece sustained floods, rockfalls and other damage as heavy rain and gale-force winds swept into Greece on Monday, ending a spell of clear skies and unseasonably warm temperatures.

Holocaust survivor dies
One of the very few Greek Jews who survived the Holocaust, Esther Cohen, has died in her native Ioannina in northwestern Greece. She was 96.
She was the only survivor in her family as her parents and siblings were killed. There are now only 20 Greek Jews that survived the Holocaust who are still alive.
She was also the second to last Jew left in Ioannina.

Ethnic Greeks from Albania with Covid-19 hospitalized in Ioannina
Greek authorities approved the transfer of three ethnic Greeks from Albania with Covid-19 to the University Hospital of Ioannina in northwestern Greece for treatment, according to state-run news agency ANA-MPA.
The three patients, who are seriously ill, were driven across the border in Kakavia in ambulances on Monday night.

Doctor arrested in Ioannina for demanding bribe
Police have filed charges against a doctor at the University Hospital of Ioannina in northwestern Greece for allegedly asking for a bribe to provide medical treatment to a patient and for breach of duty.
