Prime Minister Victor Ponta says Romania wants to join the Eurozone in the second half of 2019 and for that to happen it takes a political consensus.

President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday sent a letter to Senate Chairman Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, in which he says he has no constitutional power to dismiss from office the chair of the Supreme Court or the chief prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA).

Prime Minister Victor Ponta at the Palace of Parliament on Wednesday said that Romania is in an "extraordinarily good" economic situation and the confidence of private investors is "at the highest level since 2011."

Romania's President Klaus Iohannis said Thursday that Romania is directly interested in the European bids of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine, adding that the EU's Eastern Partnership Summit meeting in Riga is expected to mark the consolidation of EU's relationships with the three countries.
