Sky Express offering reduced Zakynthos airfares after quakes

Following the series of earthquakes that have shaken Zakynthos in recent days, Greek airline Sky Express has announced that it is cutting its ticket fares from Athens to the Ionian island to 29.37 euros (final price) and from Zakynthos to Athens to 24.90 euros.

This concerns all bookings for this month made by next Tuesday, November 6.

Aftershocks keep Zakynthos on edge

The Geodynamic Institute of Athens said the 6.4-magnitude quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers in the sea 50 km from Zakynthos. It was felt as far away as Athens, southern Italy, Albania and Libya.

A Mediterranean storm with tropical characteristics swept into the southwestern Peloponnese on Saturday morning, bringing 90 km/h winds, driving rain and crashing waves to otherwise placid seaside communities like Methoni, Finikounda, Koroni and further north to the regional capital of Kalamata.

Rock slide in Zakynthos, one woman injured, three feared missing

At least one woman has been injured and three people are feared missing after a rock slide at the famous Shipwreck beach on the Ionian island of Zakynthos on Thursday.

Initial reports said three boats were overturned when the slide caused powerful waves. A female tourist was lightly injured and taken to a local hospital.
