Police on Wednesday were searching for a Brazilian maid in connection with the disappearance of 200,000 euros from the home she worked at on the islet of Kalamos opposite the Ionian island of Lefkada.

Two men arrested in Zakynthos for killing dog
Two men were arrested on Tuesday on the Ionian island of Zakynthos on charges that they shot and killed a stray dog on Sunday.
The pair, aged 73 and 66, were identified in footage caught on surveillance cameras installed outside nearby stores as they fired at the dog in the region of Lagana.

Aid approved for flood damage
Interior Minister Panos Skourletis has approved 1,370,000 euros in aid for seven municipalities that suffered flood damage from torrential rain in early February.

Woman shot by son on Cephalonia
A 56-year-old woman was in critical condition in a Patra hospital on Friday after being shot at five times by her 22-year-old son following an argument at their home in Lixouri on the Ionian island of Cephalonia.
The woman was initially hospitalized on Cephalonia before being transferred by helicopter to Patra after her condition worsened.

Direct coastal shipping link between Ionian islands
Hydrofoil company Ilida Paxos announced this week that it will be starting direct coastal shipping links between the Ionian islands on May 1.
The 30-meter-long, 6-meter-wide High Speed Azimut, which can carry 260 passengers, will connect Greece's westernmost islands for the first time, with Monday-Saturday services until October 31.
British national stabbed on Corfu
A 50-year-old British national who is a permanent resident of the Ionian island of Corfu was hospitalized on Monday with serious stab wounds.
Police said they are looking for a 30-year-old Pakistani national.
According to local reports, the two men had an altercation concerning the British man's female partner before the suspect attacked him with a kitchen knife.

Refugee boat runs aground on Cephalonia
A boat with 29 refugees on board ran landed on the shore at Megas Lakkos beach in Lixouri on the Ionian island of Cephalonia late Friday night, after an engine failure.
All the refugees - 10 children, five women and 14 men - were in good health.

The Greek regions that performed well and bad in tourism
The regions of Greece that performed poorly in key tourism indicators such as revenues, overnight stays and visits included, western Macedonia, Central Greece and the Peloponnese. In contrast, the “winners” of the increase in tourists were the South Aegean, Crete, Attica and Central Macedonia, which achieved notably positive results in all three indicators.
