Judo, Japan's 'gentle' martial art practiced by millions

It's practiced by tens of millions around the world but there's no doubt that judo's spiritual home is Japan, where the martial art was created and made its Olympic debut.

It will be among the sports most closely watched by home fans at the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Games, and is so deeply embedded in Japanese society it even has its own branch of medicine.

Romanian judokas Andreea Chitu (world No. 3) and Corina Caprioriu (world No. 12) won the gold medal, each in her category, at the Judo Grand Prix in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Romanian judoka Andreea Chitu won the gold medal of the 52 kilograms category by defeating Mongolian Tsolmon Adiyasmbuu (world No. 13).

Romania wins 25 new medals at WUKF European Karate Championship in Verona

AGERPRES correspondent Aristotel Bunescu reports: Romania has won on Friday 25 new medals (8 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 9 bronze medals) in the European Karate Championship organized by the World Union of Karate-do Federations (WUKF) at the Palace of Sports in Verona.

As such, Romania's medal count reached 28 if we are to add the 3 medals gained on Thursday.
