ISIL rocket attacks on Turkey

Rockets fired from across the border with Syria fell in Turkey's southern Kilis province, the country's National Defense Ministry said late on March 18. 

"Rockets determined to be fired from Syria fell on an empty field in Kilis. No citizens were injured and no damage or loss occurred in the incident," the ministry said on Twitter.

Turkey has captured the wife of slain ISIL ringleader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Syria, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said.

Forty-three people were detained or arrested across Turkey on Oct. 29 for their suspected links to the terrorist organization ISIL, also known as Daesh, security sources said.

Counter-terrorism operations across Turkey saw the arrest of 13 people for their suspected links to the ISIL, police sources said on April 19.         

A Turkish court has acquitted an ISIL emir's wife in a case concerning the Aug. 20, 2016, attack carried out in the southeastern province of Gaziantep.

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Jan. 29 vowed to start a new military operation inside Syria when necessary.
