Six people were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up in Kabul Monday, close to where scores of Afghans had been protesting against Taliban attacks on the minority Hazara ethnic group, reports AFP. 

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — An Afghan official says a suicide bomber has struck an election rally in the country's eastern Nangarhar province, killing at least 13 people and wounding more than 30.

Attahullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, says some of the wounded are in critical condition, which increases concerns that the death toll could rise further.

KABUL (Reuters) - A suicide bomber blew himself up on Tuesday in the Afghan city of Jalalabad, killing at least 10 people, government officials said, but no militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

An Istanbul court on July 9 ruled for the release of five suspects in the case regarding the 2016 attack on the Atatürk Airport, carried out by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants, that left 45 people dead and over 160 injured.

BBC - A suicide bombing in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad has killed at least 19 people, most of them members of the country's Sikh minority.

Police said they had been travelling in a vehicle to meet President Ashraf Ghani, who is visiting Nangarhar province, when the bomber struck.

At least six civilians were killed when militants detonated bombs and stormed a government building May 13 in an ongoing assault in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, officials said.

Suicide bombers and gunmen launched apparent coordinated attacks on two Kabul police stations yesterday, with witnesses reporting on social media that both assaults are still under way.

Afghanistan's Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) affiliate has claimed responsibility for a bombing outside a sports stadium in eastern Nangarhar province that killed three people and wounded 10.

The Islamic State group claimed a pre-dawn attack on a military compound in Kabul on Monday that officials said has killed at least two soldiers and wounded 10 others, AFP reported.

"Islamic State fighters targeted the military academy in the city of Kabul in a suicide attack," IS said via its propaganda arm Amaq.
