Iran’s Raisi meets Erdogan in Turkey for talks on Gaza conflict, energy

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was set to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Wednesday to discuss the widening conflict in Gaza and energy cooperation between the two neighbors.

Raisi had twice postponed his visit, initially set for November, over scheduling issues and attacks in Iran's southeastern city of Kerman.

Turkey providing documents for genocide hearings against Israel, says Erdogan

Turkey is providing documents for a case brought by South Africa against Israel at the UN's top court on a charge of committing genocide against Palestinian civilians, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday.

Speaking to reporters in Istanbul, Erdogan said that Turkey will continue to provide documents, mostly visuals, on Israel's attacks on Gaza.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has accused U.S. and British forces of seeking to turn the Red Sea into a "bloodbath" following pre-dawn airstrikes on rebel-held Yemen.

The military action early on Jan. 12 was in response to weeks of disruptive attacks on Red Sea shipping by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who claim solidarity with Gaza.

Turkish justice minister says 15 suspects jailed ahead of trial for spying for Israel

A court in Istanbul has ordered 15 of 34 people detained on suspicion of spying for Israel be held in prison awaiting trial, Turkey's justice minister said late Friday.

The suspects were arrested Tuesday for allegedly planning to carry out activities that included "reconnaissance" and "pursuing, assaulting and kidnapping" foreign nationals living in Turkey.

Erdoğan blasts UN over US veto of Gaza ceasefire resolution

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has denounced the U.N. Security Council after the United States vetoed a ceasefire resolution for Gaza, describing the international body as the "Israel protection council."

Erdoğan used a speech on human rights on Dec. 9 to accuse the West of "barbarism" for its stance on the Israel-Hamas war and what he alleged was its toleration of Islamophobia.
