Israeli settlers storm into Palestinian town in West Bank as Israeli airstrike escalates crackdown

Hundreds of Israeli settlers stormed into a Palestinian town in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, setting fire to dozens of cars and homes to avenge the deaths of four Israelis killed by Palestinian gunmen the previous day, residents said. Palestinians said one man was killed in the violence.

Turkey slams US for calling Israeli attacks 'self-defense'

Turkey's communications director criticized the U.S. early on May 12 for considering Israeli attacks on Palestinians self-defense.

"Massacring civilians. Forcing Palestinians to leave their homes and occupying their lands. Attacking mosques. Murdering innocent children. Since when are all those atrocities considered self-defense?" Fahrettin Altun said on Twitter.

Israel court hands Palestinian three life terms for teens' murder

An Israeli military court on Jan. 6 handed three life sentences to a Palestinian militant convicted of organising the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers.

Hossam Qawasme was also ordered to pay 250,000 shekels ($63,000/53,000 euros) in compensation to each of the three families.

Israeli settlers torch West Bank mosque: Palestinian officials

Israeli settlers torched a mosque near the West Bank town of Ramallah overnight, Palestinian security officials said on Nov. 12, as violence intensified in the occupied territory.

"The settlers set fire to the whole of the first floor of the mosque" in the village of Al-Mughayir, near the Shilo settlement, a security official said.
