Turkish Police Detain 170 in Gezi Park Protests Anniversary

Some 170 people, including journalists, were detained on Tuesday after Turkish police aggressively prevented people from marking the ninth anniversary of the Gezi Park protests in Istanbul.

The crowd was not allowed to enter Taksim Square and Gezi Park and police used violence to stop demonstrators, with barricades, tear gas and batons.

Over 560,000 people visit Çamlıca Tower

More than 560,000 people have visited the Çamlıca Tower in Istanbul since it opened on May 21, 2021, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu has said.

Situated on a hill in the Üsküdar district overlooking Turkey's largest city, the hi-tech communications tower has the capacity to air 100 FM radio broadcasts at the same time.

Camping trailer enthusiasts to meet in Istanbul on weekend

Turkey's largest festival for camping trailer enthusiasts will take place in Istanbul's district of Kilyos on the Black Sea coast this weekend.

"İstanbul Karavan Festivali" will bring together hundreds of trail owners, outdoor sports experts and nature lovers on an area of 40 hectares between May 13 and 15.

Experts clean Çamlıca Tower’s facade in six hours

Facade cleaning of Istanbul's 369-meter-high Çamlıca Tower takes 6 hours, climbing technicians involved in the business have said.

"We are not only cleaning. We are also responsible for the maintenance of the tower's facade," said Kaan Kara, the leader of the professional mountaineers working for Çamlıca Tower, the highest structure in Europe.
