Man charged in plot to kill Uzbek dissident in Istanbul

An Uzbek national has been charged in Istanbul for plotting to kill a leading Uzbek dissident, according to prosecutors.

The suspect, identified as M.D., appeared in court late Dec. 3 and was held in custody on a charge of plotting to kill Mohammad Salih, who heads the Uzbekistan People's Movement, and his son Timur.

Russia starts deliveries of S-300 air defence systems to Iran: TASS

Russia has started the delivery of its S-300 air defence systems to Iran, TASS news agency quoted an aide to President Vladimir Putin as saying on Dec. 3.

Dozens of new malls to be built in Istanbul by end of 2016: Report

Some 40 new malls will be built in Istanbul by the end of 2016, constituting around 37 percent of the 106 planned new malls across the country, according to a newly released sector report.

While the number of malls was 337 across Turkey in 2014, this figure has risen to 361 this year, said the Maptriks report. 

Huge Explosion Rocks Istanbul Metro Station

A huge blast has occurred at Bayrampasa metro station of Istanbul, local media report.

Latest reports suggest there were no casualties, but several people were injured.

District Mayor Atilla Aydiner is quoted as saying the blast had been caused by a bomb. Earlier reports had suggested a power transformer had caused the incident.

A mysterious blast has occurred near Istanbul's central Bayrampa?a metro station with the Istanbul governor stating one citizen injured as the cause of the explosion remains unknown.

Istanbul Governor Vasip ?ahin said that one citizen slightly injured in the unknown explosion.

Meanwhile, a hand-made bomb was the cause of the explosion in Istanbul, Do?an news ageny reported.

A mysterious blast has occurred near Istanbul's central Bayrampa?a metro station with the Istanbul governor stating that the cause of the explosion remains unknown.  

At least six people were wounded, according to Anadolu Agency, which said the blast occurred at an overpass by the metro station.

Concept of Design Biennial announced

The third Istanbul Design Biennial will be held from Oct. 22 to Dec. 4, 2016, under the auspices of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (?KSV) with a focus on the connection between design and humanity.

Curators Beatriz Colomina and Mark Wigley announced the concept of the biennial at a meeting held Dec. 1 at the Istanbul Archaeological Museums Library.
