Istanbul Municipality approves Bosphorus tunnel mega-project

A three-level, sub-sea tunnel project, was recently announced by Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu, has been approved by the Istanbul Municipality.

Supported by a joint report by the Development and Public Works Commission and the Transportation and Traffic Commission, the project was the main issue on the municipal council's agenda on March 11.

Book given to Turkish elementary students raises eyebrows over controversial remarks on women

The Education Ministry has ordered for the recall of a book distributed to elementary school students after a debate was stirred over its content that included insulting remarks against women.

The book "Flower Garden" was handed out to fourth grade students in a school in Istanbul's Esenler district as a part of a project called "One Book, One World."

Turkey's stock exchange Borsa Istanbul said yesterday it plans to go public, in Ankara's latest move to bolster its $220 billion equity market that has punched below its weight for years.

Borsa Istanbul, the country's only stock exchange, plans to list up to 43 percent of its capital through the sale of most of the shares now held by the national Treasury.
