President Iohannis and his wife attend enthronement of Japan's Emperor Naruhito

AGERPRES special correspondent Florentina Peia reports: President Klaus Iohannis and his wife, Carmen Iohannis, attended on Tuesday in Tokyo the enthronement ceremony of Japanese Emperor Naruhito. The head of the Romanian state wore a black tail coat and his wife wore a long blue dress.

Japan Has a New Emperor

Naruhito became the new emperor of Japan at midnight on Wednesday, taking on the world's oldest monarchy after the historic abdication of his father, Akihito.

Japan also begins the new imperial era of Reeva or "beautiful harmony" that will last, while Naruhito, 59, today, remains on the throne.

Prince William swaps royal notes with Japan emperor

Britain's Prince William compared royal notes with Japan's imperial family on Febç 27 in the tradition-laden Imperial Palace that dominates central Tokyo.
      
The young scion of the House of Windsor was welcomed by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko at the entrance of the imposing palace, which is cut off from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo by a large moat.
