The foundations of 5,000 residences were laid on May 24 in the Jarabulus district of Aleppo within the scope of a Turkish government project carried out in terror-free zones in Syria for the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.

Türkiye will continue to fight against the terrorists until it establishes a 30-kilometer depth security corridor in northern Syria, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, signaling a new cross-border military operation in accordance with the plans and strategies of the government.

Six people, who tried to desecrate a Turkish flag during demonstrations against Türkiye in the northern Syrian province of Jarabulus, have been detained, İhlas News Agency has reported.

According to the report, "provocateurs" caused an uprising in the city on Aug. 11 and tried to take a Turkish flag down, following statements by Türkiye's top diplomat Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Turkish army has started hitting some PKK/YPG targets in northern Syria's Tal Rifaat and Manbij districts with cannon fire as the preparations for an upcoming crossover military operation, aimed to be conducted for safe return of some 500,000 Syrians, are ongoing.

A missile strike targeting Turkish-controlled northern Syria wounded several civilians, the Turkish Defense Ministry said on early March 15, noting that Russia was notified to halt the firing.

Ballistic missiles fired from Syrian regime-controlled Kuweires airport in Aleppo have targeted civilian settlements and parking lots for fuel tankers in northern Jarablus and al-Bab districts, with civilian casualties reported, Turkey's National Defense Ministry said early on March 15.

Turkey will clear YPG/PKK terrorists from east of the Euphrates like in Syria's Afrin and Jarabulus at any cost, said Turkish Foreign Minister on Aug. 11. 

Tens of thousands of Syrians who fled their country's civil war to Turkey are returning home temporarily to Syria to celebrate a major Muslim holiday, Turkish officials said on Aug. 28.

Almost three million Syrians have taken refuge in Turkey since the conflict broke out in 2011, the vast majority living in big cities rather than in camps.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said Turkey will not allow the foundation of a Kurdish state on its southern border, reiterating earlier comments on the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its armed wing the People's Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria.
