Saudi fund invests in Johnny Depp French period film

A Saudi film fund announced  that it is investing in Johnny Depp's new movie, a French period drama in which he plays King Louis XV.

The Red Sea Film Foundation said in a statement that it was backing the new film, "Jeanne du Barry," directed by France's Maiwenn, who also stars in the title role as the famous 18th century courtesan.

From cinema ban to film festival: Saudi rolls out red carpet

Less than four years after lifting a ban on cinemas, Saudi Arabia is hosting its first major film festival that kicked off on Dec. 6 as it eyes a lucrative new industry.

Movie houses were barred for decades until April 2018, but over the next 10 days, actors and directors will tread the red carpet at Jeddah's Red Sea International Film Festival.

An Israeli ship attacked with unknown weapons

The information is transmitted by the Lebanese television Mayadeen, referring to "reliable sources" who were said to be familiar with the situation, writes Sputnik.
Sources said that a fire broke out on the ship and that the merchant vessel was "hit by an unknown weapon". No group claimed responsibility for the reported incident.

S Arabia to close 8 Turkish schools in country by end of 2021

The Saudi Arabian administration has decided to terminate the activities of 8 Turkish schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education operating in the capital Riyadh and other provinces at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year, according to information gathered by diplomatic sources on April 28.
