Ljubljana architecture students have recreated some of the iconic buildings designed by architect Jože Plečnik (1872-1957) using Lego bricks. The scale models are on show at the chapel of Fužine Castle until 30 September.

Ljubljana Plečnik landmarks listed as UNESCO’s World Heritage
Ljubljana – Ljubljana’s landmarks designed by architect Jože Plečnik (1872-1957), including the Triple Bridge, Congress Square and Žale Cemetery, have been included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List in line with a decision adopted by the World Heritage Committee on Wednesday.

No building permit for Plečnik stadium, developer will press charges
Ljubljana – The Environment and Spatial Planning Ministry rejected at the end of March the BŠP company’s request for a building permit to overhaul a rundown Ljubljana stadium designed by acclaimed architect Jože Plečnik. BŠP boss Joc Pečečnik says he will not give up on the project he launched in 2007 and will press charges.
Another setback for Plečnik stadium project
Ljubljana – The Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage opposes a project to revamp a rundown sports stadium in Ljubljana that was designed by Slovenia’s best known architect Jože Plečnik. The decision was made last month after the Culture Ministry annulled a previous positive opinion, Dnevnik reports on Tuesday.

He will receive the Prešeren Prize for lifetime-achievement, the country’s top accolade for artistic accomplishments, after leaving a notable mark with his work in Slovenia and throughout the former Yugoslavia.
Exhibition on architect Plečnik moves from Vatican to Ljubljana
Opening on Thursday and running until 24 November in Ljubljana, the exhibition, entitled Plečnik and the Sacred, is one of the most important projects promoting Slovenian culture this year.

The opening was attended and addressed by Prime Minister Marjan Šarec and Culture Minister Zoran Poznič.
Šarec said at a reception for Slovenian Statehood Day, which followed the opening of the exhibition, that Slovenia should be proud and happy as this was the first Slovenian exhibition in the Vatican.
Summer in the city and Ljubljana looks so pretty
One thing that has definitely helped put Ljubljana on the global tourism map is that the city centre has been turned into a big pedestrianised area and given a through facelift.
With the traffic fumes and noise gone, the locals and visitors can now enjoy the heritage of the city's architect, Jože Plečnik (1872-1957), in all its glory.

Exhibition on architect Plečnik to open at Ljubljana castle
Aside from plans, photographs and video presentations, the exhibition also features chairs from the Prague castle, a Plečnik-designed lamp and bench, as well as a model based on Plečnik's plan for the Slovenian parliament from 1947.
