Minister highlights countryside digitalisation in Expo debate
Dubai – Agriculture Minister Jože Podgoršek took part in a debate discussing efforts to tackle global challenges related to smart villages, which was held as part of the Expo 2020 in Dubai on Monday. Countryside digitalisation is one of the priorities of the new common agricultural policy, he said according to the Agriculture Ministry.
Podgoršek attends meeting of agriculture ministers in Poland
Krakow – Agriculture Minister Jože Podgoršek was invited by his Polish counterpart Grzegorz Puda to attend a meeting of agriculture ministers within the Three Seas Initiative. The ministers discussed securing feed protein production in the EU and the transition to a green and digital agricultural economy.
Farm ministers urge stronger urban-rural dialogue
Brdo pri Kranju – EU agriculture ministers called for a stronger dialogue between urban and rural areas as they held an informal meeting in Brdo pri Kranju on Tuesday. Slovenia’s Jože Podgoršek said conflicts needed to be prevented with the help of better infrastructure and technology.

Bioeconomy in focus of 17+1 ministerial

Podgoršek discusses Farm to Fork strategy with peers
Ljubljana – Agriculture Minister Jože Podgoršek and the ministry’s state secretary Aleš Irgolič participated on Wednesday in a meeting of agriculture ministers of the Visegrad Group, plus Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania. The meeting was dedicated to challenges facing farmers and the EU’s Farm to Fork strategy.
April frost damage could reach EUR 50m, minister says
Trebnje/Ajdovščina – The sub-zero temperatures hitting last week could result in EUR 40-50 million in damage caused to fruit and wine growers, Agriculture Minister Jože Podgoršek said on Monday as he continued visiting the frost-stricken areas. This is on a par with 2016 and 2017, when damage reached some EUR 45 million. He announced state aid measures.
Slovenia does not wish to be constrained in CAP strategic plans
Ljubljana – EU agriculture ministers debated Monday and Tuesday the preparation of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) strategic plans. Slovenia welcomed the EU Commission’s recommendations but warned that countries may not be restricted in the selection of measures, Minister Jože Podgoršek said.
