Bulgarian President Rumen Radev will Meet with the SJC Representative

President Rumen Radev will talk to the representative of the Supreme Judicial Council Boyan Magdalinchev.

The conversation is part of a series of meetings that the head of state has initiated in connection with the selection criteria and the powers of the next Chief Prosecutor.

New Supreme Court President, Prosecutor to be picked by 30 June

The judiciary and the government are poised to pick the new Supreme Court Chief Justice and Prosecutor after the terms of Vasileios Peppas and Xeni Dimitriou, respectively, end on 30 June, at the end of the judicial year.

Peppas, age 71, whose term began in September, 2017, is retiring due to the age limit.

President Radev Launches a Series of Meetings For the Election of a Next Chief Prosecutor

The two will discuss the criteria for choosing the next head of state prosecution and its future powers. 

The term of office of the current Chief Prosecutor expires in January 2020, and the procedure for choosing his successor is open between 4 and 6 months earlier.
