CHP slams gov't over removal of student oath

Turkey to have liberal constitution: President Erdoğan
Turkey's new constitution will be encompassing and liberal, the nation's president vowed on March 4.
"We will achieve for Turkey an encompassing, explicit, democratic, and liberal constitution that will guide its march into the coming century,"
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told an extended provincial heads meeting of his ruling Justice and Development AKP via video link.
Parliamentary immunity a must, says CHP leader
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), has underlined that parliamentary immunity is a must in safeguarding parliamentarians in the absence of judicial independence, while commenting about an ongoing discussion following the submission of summary of proceedings against 33 MPs including many from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

MHP leader reiterates call for closure of HDP
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli on March 2 reiterated his call for the closure of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).
He also urged the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and İYİ (Good) Party to "clarify" their positions for the summary of proceedings prepared to lift the immunity of HDP MPs.

Proper political climate needed for brand-new constitution: CHP
A majority of the Turkish population believes that Turkey needs a new constitution, but it must be written within a suitable political climate, the head of the main opposition party has said, in reaction to the government's calls for the political parties to join their efforts to renew the charter.
Turkey to roll out human rights action plan next Tuesday, says Erdoğan
Turkey will announce a human rights action plan next week and an economic reform package in two weeks, the nation's president said on Feb. 24.
"Next Tuesday, we will share the Human Rights Action Plan, prepared in line with the expectations of all segments," Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told his AKP's provincial congress in Istanbul.
