Macedonia Court Slated for Scrapping Detention Order

Sead Kocan, who has spent the last two month in hiding after being charged by the Special Prosecution, SJO, with falsifying documents to win a big coal extraction tender in 2011, has reportedly reappeared in Macedonia after the Supreme Court controversially scrapped his arrest and detention warrant.

Some inmates to get better conditions after overpopulation in Turkish jails due to Gülen case arrests

Overpopulation in Turkish prisons in the aftermath of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, which is widely believed to have been orchestrated by the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), has led the Turkish Justice Ministry to introduce new regulations that would better prison conditions for inmates serving less than 10 years in prison.

'Corrupt' police officer released on 10,000-euro bail

A police officer accused of taking bribes was released on bail of 10,000 euros on Friday.

The suspect, an Attica traffic police sergeant, is accused of taking a 2,000-euro bribe from a tanker truck owner in exchange for making traffic violation fines worth 10,500 euros go away and returning the license of one of his vehicles.

The officer denies all charges.

Detention of Doğan lawyer 'intimidation'

The detention of the Doğan Group's chief judicial adviser, along with a former chief executive officer of the holding, is an act of intimidation by the political power, the Istanbul Bar Association said in a written statement on Jan. 6. 

"This detention is an intimidation," it said, adding that the government was seeking to create its own narrative during the current period.

Bulgarian Court Releases on Bail 6 Officers Arrested for Corruption at Kapitan Andreevo

The Haskovo District Court has released five of the border policemen and customs officers who were detained during the operation at the Kapitan Andreevo border cross check point in September on bail of BGN 5,000, reported BNR.

The same bail was set for another one of the accused who has been placed under house arrest.
