The Kalamata International Dance Festival, Greece's premier showcase of local and foreign trailblazers on the contemporary dance scene, ends this weekend in the southern city on the Messenian Gulf.

The program features big names and emerging artists from around the world, as well as workshops, exhibitions and all sorts of parallel events to celebrate the art of dance.

Peloponnese University set to postpone plans to honor Putin

The University of the Peloponnese is set to postpone plans to award Russian President an honorary doctorate, Kathimerini has learnt.

Sources said that university officials will propose the postponement of the ceremony, which had been planned to take place in Kalamata next Thursday because Putin cannot attend the event.

Fog causes problems at Thessaloniki airport

Dense fog in northern Greece caused cancellations of flights to and from Thessaloniki's Makedonia Airport on Tuesday morning.

According to the airport's website, five flights from the northern port to city - to Athens, the southern Peloponnese town of Kalamata and the cities of Istanbul and Bucharest - had to be cancelled due to conditions.

From today highway's prices have risen in several places in Corinthos -Tricala, Kalamata and Athens-Peloponnese. The prices are increased from 5 eurocents to 30 eurocents per category and distance. For cars with 5 cents the price of the Athens - Lamia section is rising, the BNR reported. If you travel from Thessaloniki to Lamia you will pay 35 cents more.

Two pilots safe after jet trainer crashes near Kalamata

A T-2 jet trainer aircraft crashed shortly after noon close to the Kalamata air force base in the Peloponnese from which it had taken off for a military exercise.

Neither the pilot nor the co-pilot were injured in the crash, according to military sources.

It appears that the plane suffered a malfunction in one of its engines during takeoff.
