Family Fun | Athens | May 27-28

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) has organized a big fun family event to celebrate the last weekend of spring on May 27 and 28. Running on both days from 5 to 11 p.m., "Generations: A Family Festival" includes live music, dancing, games and all sorts of fun activities such as circus classes and creative workshops.

Macbeth | Athens | April 25, 27, 29 & May 3

Italy's Lorenzo Mariani directs the Greek National Opera in a production of Giuseppe Verdi's seminal "Macbeth" for the company's first appearance at its new home in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC). Tassis Christoyannis performs the title role, with Petros Magoulas as Banco and Dimitria Theodosiou as Lady Macbeth. Performances start at 8 p.m.

Xaxakes | Athens | April 29

Local act Xaxakes, led by frontman Yiannis Nastas, has stood out for its playful blend of new wave and pop since first emerging on the Greek music scene in the 1990s. Now it's back with a new album, its first since 2009 and titled "Waltz of the Deer," which it will be presenting in a free concert at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), along with older work.

Bokomolech | Athens | April 22

Greek 1990s cult act Bokomolech - which has opened for the likes of dEUS, PJ Harvey, Shellac and Steve Wynn - brings its weird yet intriguing blend of disparate musical elements to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) for a free concert, starting at 9 p.m. There's also a free shuttle bus service that runs between the SNFCC and Syngrou-Fix metro station.

Treasure Hunt | Athens | April 15

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) invites families with young children to its garden on Saturday, April 15, for an Easter egg and treasure hunt. The objective of the game - which will be organized in 40-minute installments for up to 10 families at a time - is to find Mister Easter Bunny and take home the loot of chocolate eggs. The admission-free event runs from 10 a.m.

Coltrane Tribute | Athens | April 13

Tenor saxophonist Takis Paterelis and his quartet pay tribute to John Coltrane in a concert focused on the American musician and composer's landmark album from 1964, "A Love Supreme," a four-part suite that expanded the horizons of jazz. The concert will take place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), starting at 9 p.m., and admission is free of charge.

Gumbo Ya Ya | Athens | April 9

Gumbo Ya Ya, a band founded in Athens five years ago when American pianist John Higgins relocated to the Greek capital, will perform New Orleans jazz and blues at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center on Sunday, April 9, starting at 9 p.m. The SNFCC provides a free shuttle service between the venue and the Syngrou Fix metro station.
