The Greek National Opera has a new harpsichord thanks to a generous donation by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and on Friday, February 15, there will be a special introductory performance for which admission will be free with priority coupons. The Greek National Opera's Alternative Stage and the Medium Project musical theater company present a new chamber opera, "Hedda Gabler," by composer and pianist Giorgos Dousis, based on a libretto by Eri Kyrgia and Henrik Ibsen's drama about a woman who takes her life into her own hands. The Greek National Opera presents a revival by Rory Fazan of a Royal Opera House production of Giuseppe Verdi's "Simon Boccanegra," which was first staged in London on November 12, 1991. Directed by the legendary Elijah Moshinsky, that production was inspired by the art and architecture of Renaissance. Water cuts in Athens neighborhoods

Several districts of the Greek capital were without water supply since Wednesday morning, Athens's public water company EYDAP announced on its website.

According to the company, areas of Filothei, Papagou, Kallithea, Iraklio, Voula, Aspropyrgos, Kolonos and Akademia Platonos were affected by the disruption.

Water services will be restored at around 3 p.m, the company said.
