In cooperation with London's Royal Opera House, the Greek National Opera presents a revival of Katie Mitchell's 2016 production of Gaetano Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor," directed by Robin Tebbutt, at the Stavros Niarchos Hall on February 24 and March 3, 20, 22 and 24.
Harpsichord Debut | Athens | February 15
The Greek National Opera has a new harpsichord thanks to a generous donation by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and on Friday, February 15, there will be a special introductory performance for which admission will be free with priority coupons. Conductor and harpsichordist Markellos Chryssicos will present a unique recital featuring standard repertory and new works.

Dead Korydallos Prison inmate linked to gang in Zafeiropoulos murder
A 33-year-old man who was found dead in his cell in the Greek capital's Korydallos Prison on Sunday is believed to be part of the same gang as a man who was stabbed to death at the prison earlier this month and another inmate.

Hedda Gabler Opera | Athens | January 25 - February 3
The Greek National Opera's Alternative Stage and the Medium Project musical theater company present a new chamber opera, "Hedda Gabler," by composer and pianist Giorgos Dousis, based on a libretto by Eri Kyrgia and Henrik Ibsen's drama about a woman who takes her life into her own hands. The title role is shared by Julia Rutigliano and Irena Athanasiou.

Simon Boccanegra | Athens | January 19-26
The Greek National Opera presents a revival by Rory Fazan of a Royal Opera House production of Giuseppe Verdi's "Simon Boccanegra," which was first staged in London on November 12, 1991. Directed by the legendary Elijah Moshinsky, that production was inspired by the art and architecture of Renaissance. Vienna Philharmonic | Athens | January 1
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center will be screening a live broadcast of the Vienna Philharmonic's annual New Year's Concert, conducted for the first time by Christian Thielemann. Water cuts in Athens neighborhoods
Several districts of the Greek capital were without water supply since Wednesday morning, Athens's public water company EYDAP announced on its website.
According to the company, areas of Filothei, Papagou, Kallithea, Iraklio, Voula, Aspropyrgos, Kolonos and Akademia Platonos were affected by the disruption.
Water services will be restored at around 3 p.m, the company said.
