Bulgaria's New Republic Movement to Be Officially Launched Tuesday

A "non-partisan", right-wing alliance called New Republic (originally "Nova Republika") is to be formally launched on Tuesday, seeking to offer an alternative to GERB party of Boyko Borisov in the coming election.

Radan Kanev, the leader of DSB party which broke away from the Reformist Bloc, is the driving force behind the project.

Court OKs Registration of Yes, Bulgaria Party

The Sofia City Court on Monday has approved the application of former Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov's organization, Yes, Bulgaria, which seeks registration as a political party.

Yes, Bulgaria, founded upon an anti-corruption platform earlier in January, asserts it has collected some 3000 signatures, a number meeting the threshold required.

DSB Mulls Withdrawing Its Deputies If New Govt Is Formed

DSB is against the forming of a new government within the framework of the current Parliament and if such a deal is reached, DSB deputies will leave the parliamentary group of the Reformist Bloc and Parliament, announced the leader of DSB Radan Kanev.

"DSB will not support such a trick government which distances the country from the aim of a New Bulgarian Republic," added Kanev.

Bulgaria's ex-Justice Min Founds New Political Project

Hristo Ivanov, who stepped down as Bulgaria's Justice Minister last December, launched a new political project on Friday.

At a meeting held exactly a year after he resigned after what he saw as a failed judicial reform, he told the audience that a "broad structure" of civic organizations and politicians was needed to address corruption and issues with the rule of law.

''There won't be a new project of Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB)'', said the leader of the party Radan Kanev on November, 17, according to Darik News.

He explained that his party is open to a new partnership and its ready also to participate in something new. Although earlier this week he announced that he is up to a new right-wing political project.

Bulgaria's outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva has said the collapse of the current cabinet does not bring about a demise of the Reformist Bloc (RB) coalition which she co-chairs.

The RB, a loose coalition of centrist and right-wing parties, was the junior coalition partner in the outgoing Bulgarian administration.
