A Turkish government-funded facility for children suffering from blood disorders was inaugurated in Pakistan's commercial capital of Karachi on Feb. 8. 

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Jan. 14 inaugurated the country's new consulate building in Pakistan's commercial capital Karachi.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Çavuşoğlu said the new building is a symbol of Turkey-Pakistan friendship, which will be further strengthened in days to come.

Power was gradually being restored to major cities across Pakistan on Jan. 10 after it was hit by a massive electricity blackout, officials said.

The electricity distribution system in the nation of more than 210 million people is a complex - and delicate - web, and a problem in one section of the grid can lead to cascading breakdowns countrywide.

All but two of the 99 people on board a Pakistan passenger plane were killed when it crashed into a residential neighborhood of Karachi, officials said on May 23, as rescue workers toiled through the charred and twisted wreckage strewn across the street.

A jetliner carrying 98 people crashed in Friday in a crowded neighborhood near the airport in Pakistan's port city of Karachi after an apparent engine failure during landing.

Officials said there were at least two survivors from the plane, and it was unknown how many people on the ground were hurt, with at least five houses destroyed.

Turkey on May 22 offered condolences to Pakistan over a deadly plane crash in the early hours of the day.

"We receive the news with deep sorrow that a Pakistan International Airlines plane crashed into a residential area close to Jinnah Airport in Karachi resulting in the loss of many lives," Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Turkey's state aid agency has set up four water filtration facilities in Pakistan's southern Sindh province to provide clean water to around one million people. 

At least 65 people died this morning in a fire that broke out in a passenger train in Pakistan, Yasmin Rashid, who heads health authorities in central Punjab, told AFP.

According to her, there are also more than 40 injured who are being transported to hospitals in the region. So far, only 18 of the dead have been recognized.

The measurements rank the Serbian capital next to Delhi and Beijing.

Despite air problems in the Russe region, data from metering stations show that Belgrade is among the most polluted cities in recent days around the world. The measurements put the Serbian capital near cities such as Beijing, Delhi, Karachi.

Turkey's state-run aid agency opened a children's library on Sept. 23 in the southern port city of Karachi, Pakistan, aiming to support children's education in the slum areas.
