Turkey inaugurates new consulate building in Pakistan

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Jan. 14 inaugurated the country's new consulate building in Pakistan's commercial capital Karachi.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Çavuşoğlu said the new building is a symbol of Turkey-Pakistan friendship, which will be further strengthened in days to come.

Pakistan hit by nationwide power blackout

Plane with 98 Passengers Crashed in Pakistan

A jetliner carrying 98 people crashed in Friday in a crowded neighborhood near the airport in Pakistan's port city of Karachi after an apparent engine failure during landing.

Officials said there were at least two survivors from the plane, and it was unknown how many people on the ground were hurt, with at least five houses destroyed.

Turkey voices sorrow over Pakistani plane crash

Turkey on May 22 offered condolences to Pakistan over a deadly plane crash in the early hours of the day.

"We receive the news with deep sorrow that a Pakistan International Airlines plane crashed into a residential area close to Jinnah Airport in Karachi resulting in the loss of many lives," Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

At Least 65 People Died in a Train Fire in Pakistan

At least 65 people died this morning in a fire that broke out in a passenger train in Pakistan, Yasmin Rashid, who heads health authorities in central Punjab, told AFP.

According to her, there are also more than 40 injured who are being transported to hospitals in the region. So far, only 18 of the dead have been recognized.
