Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov is ready to take the army on the street in peacetime for the EU Presidency from January 1st.

The European Union should use military means to defend its external borders from migrants entering illegally, Bulgaria’s defense minister, Krasimir Karakachano, has said.

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov has said that in the future Bulgaria is going to use its army to guard its border with Turkey, reported bTV. 

The border between the two states will be divided into five zones and will be protected by 600 armed military, Karakachanov explained.

At a Brussels-held sitting of the Foreign Affairs (Defense) Council of the EU Bulgarian Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov declared that Sofia wanted the expansion of the range of the common funding for the EU battlegroups vie including the expenses for their deployment too with the purpose of a fairer distribution of the burden between all the member-states, reported the Bulgarian Natio

''The new government will review and discuss the three offers for purchase of a new, modern fighter for the Bulgarian army'', Defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov told journalists, quoted by FOCUS Radio.

The Co-Chairman of the United Patriots Krasimir Karakachanov has said that talks with GERB for a coalition agreement continue today, BNR reported.

The negotiation teams of Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) and United Patriots - NFSB, Ataka, and VMRO are holding a meeting at the National Assembly building in relation to forming a government, according to Focus News.

The future ministerial positions proportions haven't been discussed again at today's round of expert consultations between GERB and the United Patriots, said for the BNR leader of VMRP Krasimir Karakachanov.

GERB party, which won the early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria and the United Patriots coalition - National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria, VMRO and Ataka - held a meeting in Sofia, according to BNR.

After the meeting, VMRO leader Krasimir Karakachanov commented that there are no negotiations on the formation of a new cabinet as yet and that such talks are yet to be held.

GERB have not invited other formations for negotiations on the forming of a cabinet yet.

The coalition United Patriots and the party Volya of businessman Veselin Mareshki are already adamant that, if they are made an offer to support the new government, they will insist on having their own ministers.
