Ousted Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced plans on July 29 for his brother Shahbaz to take over as leader of the country and lashed out at the Supreme Court ruling that barred him from office.
   

Pakistan's ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif named his brother Shahbaz, the chief minister of Punjab province, as his successor and nominated ex-oil minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as an interim premier in a defiant speech on July 29.

Pakistan's Supreme Court on July 28  toppled Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who resigned after the court ruled he was unfit to hold office and ordered a criminal investigation into his family over corruption allegations.

Nawaz Sharif has resigned as prime minister of Pakistan following a decision by the country’s Supreme Court to disqualify him from office.
The ruling came after a probe into his family’s wealth following the 2015 Panama Papers dump linking Mr Sharif’s children to offshore companies.
Mr Sharif has consistently denied any wrongdoing in the case.

Pakistan's Supreme Court ruled to remove Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from office following a nearly year-long corruption investigation into his family, local media reported Friday.

"Supreme Court of Pakistan has disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case verdict. Justice Ejaz Afzal announced the decision," The Times of Islamabad wrote.

A high-ranking police officer was beaten to death in Kashmir by an angry mob that witnesses say had taken him for a spy or assassin. At least two suspects have been arrested.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will embark on a tour to Pakistan and Uzbekistan on Nov. 16-18, in a bid to enhance Ankara's bilateral relations with the two countries, his press office has announced.

Pakistan wants China to become the ninth member-country of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) as Islamabad believes that a greater South Asian economic alliance will help corner India in the region. Turkey and political figures across the globe have strongly condemned the deadly attack in Pakistan's Lahore, which targeted Christians celebrating Easter, killed more than 70 people and was claimed by a fraction of the Taliban, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.
