Traffic diversion in Attiki Odos due to fire on vehicle
There is currently a traffic diversion on the entrance branch from the Hymettus Ring Road to Attiki Odos, heading toward Elefsina.
According to reports, the diversion is due to a fire that broke out in a vehicle.
Heavy rainfall causes disruptions across Attica
Heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, has been impacting several areas of Attica since the early hours of the morning.
Shortly before 7 a.m., traffic was temporarily halted in the underground section of Mesogeion Avenue at its intersection with Katechaki. However, the road was reopened soon after, despite the persistent rain.

Traffic restrictions will take place on Attica Road from 22:00 tonight, July 30, until 06:00 tomorrow morning, July 31, due to maintenance work.

Greece still in the grip of cold weather
Bad weather has a lot of Greece under its grip, with snowfall and below freezing temperatures.
In the Athens area, mostly in the northern parts, some roads are closed, police warn.
These include: the road to Mt. Parnitha, the Alimou-Katechaki road, Anapafseos Street, in the suburb of Papagou, beyond the cemetery and Fylis and Tatoiou Avenues, northwest of Athens.

The strong showers started a little after 10 am and is affecting most areas of the capital with traffic congestion in a number of central and peripheral road networks. Roads and streets blocked off due to Macron visit in Athens
Athens will be under tight security control in the wake of French President Emmanuel Macron’s arrival at the Greek capital, Thursday. Greek police have made blocked streets and roads in the centre of Athens and surrounding routes during his stay in the Greek capital. Traffic measures have already taken effect and will last until 3pm.
