Turkey’s Kayseri added to UNESCO Creative Cities Network

Turkey's central province of Kayseri has been added to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in field of gastronomy for its rich cuisine, a local official said on July 28.

Kayseri city mayor Memduh Büyğkkılıç said that a special commission was formed within the municipality which carried out hard work and managed to enter the network.

Sultan Reeds, a bird paradise in Central Anatolia

The Sultan Reeds National Park on the skirts of Erciyes Mountain welcomes its visitors with reeds longer than a human height as well as bird sounds.

The park, which was declared a protected area in 2020, was named after the Ottoman Sultan Murat IV who stayed there with his army for three months on his way to the 1636 Revan Expedition.

Snow depth shrinks during winter season in Turkey

Snow depth in Turkey remained lower this winter season than past years, data from the General Directorate of Meteorology showed on Feb. 2. 

According to records accessed by Anadolu Agency, snow depth in Turkey was usually found to be around the average human height, which is 180 centimeters (5 feet 9 inches) for men and 160 centimeters (5 feet 2 inches) for women.

Turkey delays bicycle races due to COVID-19 pandemic

All cycling competitions to be held in Turkey until June have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Turkish Cycling Federation announced on April 13.

"All scheduled activities until June 6 are postponed to a later date because of the coronavirus pandemic. New racing calendar will be announced later," the federation said in a statement.
