British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday delayed a decision to let Ukraine fire long-range Western-supplied missiles into Russia, a plan that sparked dire threats from Moscow of a war with NATO.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced today that he wants to introduce new measures in the fight against smoking, which, according to media reports, could include a ban on smoking in outdoor areas of restaurants and football stadiums.

Starmer, who is on a two-day visit to Europe, stated his intention to “reconfigure” the UK’s relationship with the EU.

“This does not mean overturning Brexit or rejoining the single market or customs union, but it does mean a closer relationship on many fronts,” Starmer explained at a press conference following his talks with Scholz.

The U.K. government on Wednesday announced new measures to curb the arrival of migrants on boats from France and to step up the removal of failed asylum seekers.

It said 100 new "specialist intelligence and investigation officers" would be recruited to the National Crime Agency (NCA) to help dismantle smuggling gangs that run the dangerous Channel crossings.

The U.K. government said on Tuesday that 6,000 specialist police officers were ready to deal with far-right rioting.

The unrest broke out last  week on July 30 after three children were killed in a stabbing spree at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, northwest England.

Riots have since flared up in several cities and towns, leading to hundreds of arrests.

The British Turkish Association (BTA) issued a call Monday for unity and prudence to the Turkish community living in the U.K. following a series of violent incidents perpetrated by far-right extremists.

In a statement, BTA President Murat Şükrü Acar emphasized the importance of maintaining social peace and harmony, urging the community to resist provocations.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday vowed "swift criminal sanctions" following an emergency meeting on the far-right riots that have broken out across England over the murder of three children.

As part of a "number of actions" to come out of the meeting, the government will "ramp up criminal justice" to ensure that "criminal sanctions are swift", Starmer told the media.
