Acropolis to briefly shut again as heatwave continues
With temperatures in Athens expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius (105.8 F) for a second day in a row, authorities have decided to again keep the Acropolis archaeological site closed for some hours Saturday.
The site, which offers no shade, will be closed between 12 noon and 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Last morning admissions will be at 11:30 a.m. and first afternoon ones at 5:30 p.m.
A French take on Athens
The French comedy series 'Greek Salad' ('Salade grecque') which has been available on Amazon Prime for a few weeks now, vividly depicts the less touristy side of Athens. Filmed almost entirely in the capital, the series also features many Greek actors.

Five nightclubs closed for overcrowding violations
Five nightclubs in Attica were ordered to close over the weekend after raids on Friday night conducted by units of the Hellenic Police and the Development Ministry's General Secretariat for Trade and Consumer Protection established that the businesses had violated hygiene protocols aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus, notably by permitting excessive overcrowding.

Myrtis stars in coronavirus awareness video
Myrtis, the celebrated reconstruction of a 5th century BC young Athenian girl whose remains were unearthed during excavations back in the 1990s, stars in a new animated video designed to increase awareness about the coronavirus pandemic.

The Waterboys | Athens | November 21 & 22
British-Irish folk rock band the Waterboys, who need no introduction in Greece, will be performing two shows at the Piraeus 117 Academy in Kerameikos on November 21 and 22. Formed in Edinburgh in 1983, the outfit's early sound became known as "The Big Music," after a song on their second album, "A Pagan Place." The group would go on the explore other genres ranging from punk to soul-pop.

Kelly Finnigan | Around Greece | October 17-20
American soul singer Kelly Finnigan, known as the voice of successful San Francisco band Monophonics, is coming to Greece with his band, the Atonements, for a mini-tour with crowd-pleasing favorites and lesser-known work. Finnigan will perform at Thessaloniki's WE venue on Thursday, Volos's Lab Art on Friday, Gazarte in Athens on Saturday and Giafka in Patra on Sunday.

Sisters of Mercy | Thessaloniki & Athens | September 12 & 13
English goth rock band the Sisters of Mercy are set to return to Greece for two big shows at Thessaloniki's Fix Factory of Sound on September 12 and Athens' Gazi Music Hall the following night as part of a tour of Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South America.
Members of Rouvikonas barge into Cosmote store in Kerameikos
About 30 members of the anti-establishment group Rouvikonas (Greek for Rubicon) on Thursday staged a stunt at a store of Greek mobile operator Cosmote in Kerameikos in downtown Athens.
The group threw fliers outside the shop before about a dozen protesters barged into the store shouting slogans against the company.
