European Commission Greenlights Digital Green Certificate for Safe Free Movement inside EU

The Commission tabled on Wednesday a regulation on a digital green certificate, a "temporary" measure supposed to facilitate safe free movement inside the EU during the Covid-19 pandemic. It will verify that a person has been vaccinated against Covid-19, received a negative test result or recovered from the virus infection.

Property owners demand launch of building e-ID measure be postponed

Buildings' electronic identification number (e-ID), which will be necessary for all property transactions as of February 1, will set owners back some 500 to 1,000 euros per property, in addition to being an additional bureaucratic hassle for them amid the pandemic, the federation of property owners (POMIDA) alleges.

More transactions with the state go online

A new set of digital public services have been launched within the framework of the effort to provide citizens with efficient and safe services, given the limitations due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Monday saw the introduction of so-called "digital counters" which allows online transactions between the public and state services via the gov.gr website.

Church of Greece to start issuing certificates online in 3 days

The Athens Archbishopric is taking a step into the digital era with an initiative that will allow citizens to apply for marriage licenses, baptism certificates and other documents online.

Using their personal details for Taxisnet, the electronic portal for submitting tax declarations, citizens will soon be able to use their cell phones or computers to request a series of documents.
