A former US Marine has been killed in Ukraine

A former US serviceman from an elite part of the Navy who deserted in 2019 was killed this week in Ukraine, AFP reported, citing the US Navy.

The United States on Jan. 20 designated Russia's Wagner group as a "transnational criminal organization," piling pressure on the private Russian army fighting in Ukraine.

The new year offers an opportunity to take stock of the many changes in Europe over the last year - a year marked by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Kyiv urged Western allies on Thursday to hurry up and supply tanks and air defense systems, saying Ukraine was paying in lives for the slow pace of discussions in foreign capitals.

"We have no time, the world does not have this time," said Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, wrote on the Telegram messaging app.

In his speech, he pointed out that the fighting in Ukraine slowed down not only because of the winter, but also because of Kyiv's lack of weapons.
He also noted that "fatigue" had set in and that "the war really slows down in the winter."

Russians who fled to Bulgaria donated jeeps to a Ukrainian non-governmental organization.

The three vehicles will be used in the war against Russia, said Flora Akhmetova from the organization.

"This is the contribution of Russian citizens to Ukraine's victory over Putin's criminal regime, which seized state power in Russia," Akhmetova pointed out.

Brandon Weichert, research associate of the Eurasian Research and Analytics Institute said so in an article for "American Greatness".

The secret salvation of Ukraine - this is how the German newspaper Die Welt titled its investigation, according to which Bulgaria delivered a third of the weapons to Ukraine last year.

"When the then Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov arrived on a visit to Kyiv on April 28 of last year, one could ask himself what he was doing there," the newspaper's article begins.
