Gang behind murder of businessman is identified
The Greek Police announced on Wednesday that it has identified the men who murdered 52-year-old businessman Alexandros Stamatiadis in April last year.
The men are members of a criminal gang that has carried out an estimated 55 robberies and burglaries in Attica, the Peloponnese and central Greece.

Mosquito control measures to be carried out in northern Attica
Authorities have announced the next areas for mosquito spraying in the wider Athens area.
Spraying will be conducted from August 13-20 in 12 municipalities in northern Attica: Halandri, Aghia Paraskevi, Holargos/Papagou, Nea Ionia, Pendeli, Maroussi, Vrilissia, Kifissia, Pefki/Lykovrissi, Psychico/Filothei, Iraklio and Metamorphosi.
Athens suburbs hit by heavy rainfall, flash floods
Cars float in a parking lot-turned-muddy lake following a squall in the northern Athens suburb of Maroussi, Thursday. Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area and closed a side road off the main highway leading north out of the capital. The fire department received more than 200 calls for assistance, including pumping water from flooded homes and businesses.

A citizen's complaint
I attended an event organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Athens last Sunday afternoon. It was held at the Zirineio Municipal Sports Center in the northern suburb of Kifissia and was attended by dozens of Indonesian families, representing almost the entire community that lives in the Attica area.

Work stoppage to disrupt Athens metro services on Thursday
There will be no services on the Athens metro between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday due to a work stoppage by employees.
The walkout will affect services on Lines 2 and 3. Line 1, known as the Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway (ISAP), will be running as normal.
Athens metro to halt at 11 p.m. on Friday
The Athens metro will not be in service from 11 p.m. until the end of the shift on Friday.
The union representing metro train drivers said in an announcement that it is moving ahead with the work stoppage because it had received no response from the government after last Monday's industrial action.
