Murat Kurum, the Istanbul mayoral candidate representing the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP)-led People's Alliance, has unveiled plans for the megacity primarily aimed at alleviating the city's notorious traffic congestion.

Turkey's largest festival for camping trailer enthusiasts will take place in Istanbul's district of Kilyos on the Black Sea coast this weekend.

An ammunition box, believed to have come from a previously sunken Russian intelligence boat, was found washed ashore on May 7 on a beach in Karasu, a town in the northwestern Turkish province of Sakarya on the Black Sea coast. 

The discovery was reportedly made by a local fisherman, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.  

A Russian naval intelligence ship sank off Turkey's Black Sea coast on April 27 after colliding with a vessel carrying livestock, Turkey's Coast Guard said, noting that all 78 personnel on board were evacuated.

The ship, identified as the Liman, collided with the Togo-flagged Youzarsif H., the authority said on its website.
