Operation under way to boost remote islands’ health defences

Four dinghies took four teams of doctors and nurses to Milos, Kimolos, Folegandros and Sikonos, covering more than 200 nautical miles in 31 hours, and collected about 200 samples as part of an initiative to conduct coronavirus tests and to ascertain the health infrasture needs of remote islands.

Aegean islanders protest against new forest maps

Authorities and residents at Greece's Aegean islands are fuming over the mapping of forestland, saying the process undermines investment and economic growth.
The ongoing mapping of Greece's forests involves the delineation of areas that are entitled to special protection (such as limits on construction) under Greek law. It is set to be completed by 2020.

Mayors from small Greek islands ask for free internet

The mayors of 13 small Greek islands have sent a request to the government asking for free access to the internet. The petition, published by the Athens-Macedonia News Agency, bears the names of mayors on islands that have less than 1,000 residents. They hope that the coalition will give their proposal due consideration.
