Declared State of Emergency in California Because of Fires

The fire spread over 1500 hectares of forest. 500 families were evacuated as their homes were threatened by fire. Reports Bnt. 

One person was arrested and charged with arson. A California man held campfire for several days, but subsequently lost control of the fireplace. If found guilty, he may get up to seven years in prison.

University rectors voice disagreement with proposed changes

University rectors, who held an emergency meeting Monday, voiced disapproval of the government's proposed changes to tertiary education. The rectors are against the provisions regarding immunity within university grounds, postgraduate studies, the scrapping of differences between universities and technical colleges, and the election of professors via secret ballots.

Yet again, the Teachers Federation of Greece stands firm against any attempts to even think about evaluating its members, let alone allow it to actually happen. And they are not the only ones who are fervently fighting to prevent this from happening.

Third İhsanoğlu Gold Medal to be presented in Brazil in July

The İhsanoğlu Gold Medal, granted in an international competition held once every four years for doctoral theses on the history of science in Islam, will be offered for the third time in a ceremony during the 25th International Congress of History of Science, Technology and Medicine (ICHSTM) in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro in July.
