Foreign direct investment flowing into Turkey has soared in the first five months of this year, according to the head of the presidential investment office.

Exports by carmakers based in the northwestern province of Sakarya amounted to some $2.3 billion in January-June this year.

Ford Otosan, a joint venture of Turkey's Koç Holding and U.S. auto giant Ford, is planning to become carbon neutral by 2050, its CEO Haydar Yenigün has said.
