Korićani Cliffs massacre

Relatives of the Bosniaks and Croats killed at the Koricani Cliffs by Bosnian Serb forces will mark the 29th anniversary of the massacre on Saturday by throwing roses into the deep mountain pit where their loved ones' bodies were dumped after they were killed in 1992.

Bosnia's top court has rejected an appeal filed by Zoran Babic in September 2019 with the Constitutional Court against a verdict passed down in May that year in which he said his right to a fair defence had been violated.

Under the verdict, the Appeals Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced him to 13 years in prison for a "crime against humanity".

The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has turned down an appeal from Darko Mrdja, a former member of a police intervention squad at the Public Security Station in the city of Prijedor, against the verdict convicting him of crimes against humanity.

Sretko Pavic, who was convicted in July this year of war crimes against civilians, did not report to prison to serve his 11-year sentence, the Bosnian state court has confirmed.

Pavic was obliged to start serving his prison term by November 30, but filed a motion requesting a postponement.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is seeking the arrests of Bosnian Serb ex-policeman Darko Mrdja and ex-military policeman Dragan Marjanovic, who both absconded after second-instance verdicts convicted them of wartime crimes.

'Red notices' calling on countries worldwide to assist in detaining them have been posted on Interpol's website.

Family members and representatives of the Association of Detainees in Bosnia and Herzegovina will mark the 27th anniversary on Wednesday of the murder of some 200 unarmed Bosniak and Croat men by Bosnian Serb police at Mount Vlasic in the first few months of the country's 1992-95 war.
