Application by convicted N17 hitman for seventh furlough rejected

A council of judges in Volos, central Greece, on Wednesday turned down a request by convicted November 17 hitman Dimitris Koufodinas for a seventh furlough in just over a year.
Koufodinas, who was handed 11 life sentences for his role in N17 in 2003, had applied for a four-day furlough starting on February 28, less than a month after enjoying a six-day leave.

Thassos murderer Theofilos Sechidis found dead in prison

Theofilos Sechidis, who shocked Greece with the quintuple murder of his family in the 1990s, was found dead on Tuesday at the psychiatric ward of Korydallos prison.

According to information, the 46-year-old convict died while he was in a shower. No further details were immediately available on the cause of death.

Concern at death of second gang man in Korydallos

Concerns are growing about conditions at the capital's high-security Korydallos Prison following the death of a second suspected gang member there within a few days.

The 33-year-old man who was found dead in his cell on Sunday is believed to belong to the same gang as a man who was stabbed to death at the prison earlier this month, 36-year-old Albanian national Arber Bako.
