Hashim Thaci has called early parliamentary elections for June 11 after the government collapsed following a no-confidence motion in parliament, RFE/RL reports.

Thaci announced the date for the vote on May 11, after holding meetings with Kosovo's political leaders.

He said that most parties agreed the date should be June 11.

In a move initiated by the opposition Initiative for Kosovo, Nisma, Kosovo opposition parties are hoping a no-confidence motion will oust the government of Isa Mustafa after 42 MPs filed signatures in parliament on Friday.
