The Government Nominates Maria Gabriel as European Commissioner

After the end of the first sitting of the new government of Bulgaria, Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva announced that the Bulgarian nomination for European commissioner is Maria Gabriel, BNR reported.

To become commissioner, Maria Gabriel, who has been EPP MEP since 2007, will undergo a European Parliament hearing.

Borisov 3 Cabinet To Discuss the Nomination For a Bulgarian EU Commissioner Today

On the first government meeting of the Borisov 3 cabinet today, they will consider the nomination for a Bulgarian  EU Commissioner, according to BGNES.

During a phone call with the Bulgarian Prime Minister, the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker urged the Bulgarian Government to nominate Bulgarian EU Commissioner as soon as possible.

A Bulgarian Horo is Going to Take Place For the 5th Time on Brussels' Central Square

For the fifth consecutive time a Bulgarian horo will take place in the central square of Grand Place in Brussels, Focus News Reported.

 This year, the organizer of the event is the Bulgarian MEP from GERB/EPP Eva Maidel, who continues the tradition launched by Kristalina Georgieva, Deputy Chair of the European Commission (2014-2016).

Bulgaria's Interim Govt Won't Nominate EU Commissioner

The caretaker government of Bulgaria will not engage in a nomination of a European Commissioner before the election, Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdzhikov has said.

At a briefing, he has made it clear he does not rule out a situation in which his cabinet has to remain in office for a longer time after the vote due on March 26.
