Human smugglers behind Syrian toddler's death sentenced to 125 years in prison
Three organizers of the human trafficking ring which led to the death of Syrian toddler Aylan Kurdi, in a case that made headlines worldwide, were sentenced to 125 years in prison each on March 13.
More than 40 Migrants Were Rescued in the Mediterranean
German ship "Alan Kurdi" saved more than 40 migrants in the Mediterranean.
They were rescued from a wooden boat with the assistance of the Maltese authorities. The Maltese navy sent a ship to take the people of ''Alan Kurdi'' and transport them to the shore, "the organization said in Twitter, quoted by NOVA TV.

German migrant rescue ship renamed after tragic toddler
A German migrant rescue ship which operates in the Mediterranean was renamed on Feb. 10 after Alan Kurdi, a three-year-old Syrian refugee boy whose body washed up on a Turkish beach at the height of the migrant crisis, sparking global outrage.

Boy, 7, drowns in sea west of Athens
A 7-year-old Syrian-Kurdish boy was found dead Friday night after he went missing earlier in the day from the Skaramangas refugee center west of Athens.
The boy's disappearance prompted an amber alert and mobilized a police search operation, which led to the discovery of the boy's body in the sea not far from the camp.

Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei has recreated the heartbreaking image of the drowned 3-year-old Syrian child, Alan Kurdi, by staging a photo of himself lying face down on a beach on Lesvos island, Greece.
Ai Weiwei closed his eyes and lay face down on a pebbled beach imitating the lifeless body of Alan who lost his life while trying to reach Greece with his family.

At least 37 migrants, mostly women and children, drowned yesterday attempting to cross the sea from Turkey to reach Greece.
Turkish authorities announced that at least 37 refugees were dead, while they managed to rescue 75 people.
