Two gendarmeries killed in clash with terrorists

Two Turkish gendarmeries were killed in eastern Turkey in a clash with terrorists, the Interior Ministry said on May 2.

In a statement, the ministry said that four gendarmeries were also injured in the eastern Bitlis province during an anti-terror operation in the region.

The operation is still ongoing, the statement added.

Ankara slams 'vague' EU statement on Afrin attack

Turkey on April 29 slammed a statement by the European External Action Service on the recent terrorist attack by the YPG/PKK in Afrin, northwestern Syria.

Fahrettin Altun, the country's communications director, said on Twitter that the press release by the European Union's diplomatic service shows the union still has not adopted the right stance in the fight against terrorism.

40 civilians, including children, killed in YPG/PKK attack in Afrin

At least 40 civilians, including 11 children, were killed on April 28 in a YPG/PKK terrorist attack in northwestern Syria, Turkey's Defense Ministry said.

At least 47 others were also wounded in the attack in the Afrin city center carried out using a bomb-rigged fuel tanker, the ministry said in a tweet.

Turkey ‘neutralizes’ 3 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq

Turkish fighter jets "neutralized" three PKK terrorists as part of counter-terrorism operations in northern Iraq, the National Defense Ministry said on April 18. 
The terrorists, who were detected by reconnaissance and surveillance activities, were neutralized in Avashin-Basyan region of northern Iraq, the ministry said on Twitter.

Turkish soldier killed in terrorist attack in Iraq

A Turkish soldier was killed in a terrorist attack in northern Iraq, the National Defense Ministry said on April 15. 

"On April 15, 2020, in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq, a hero fellow soldier was martyred by the explosion of a mine/handmade explosive previously placed by terrorists from the separatist terrorist organization PKK," the ministry said in a statement.
