Kurdish separatism in Turkey

Two PKK terrorists, preparing to carry out attacks, have been detained, one in Istanbul, the other in northern Syria, the interior minister has said.

Announcing the captures with tweets on Aug. 11, Süleyman Soylu firstly declared the capture of a suicide bomber in Azaz, a Syrian city some 30 kilometers away from Aleppo.

In a statement published on Aug. 10, the ministry highlighted that the PKK terrorists were in preparation for an attack.

"We will be responding to the terrorists strongly," the ministry said without giving any further details.

Two PKK terrorists heading to a cave in the Qandil Mountains which is the terrorist organization's base in northern Iraq, have been neutralized in a surgical attack with an armed drone, Turkish Defense Ministry has announced.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the PKK, PYD and FETÖ groups have entered NATO's official records as terrorist organizations as a result of Türkiye's unwavering efforts to ensure their recognition as terrorist organizations.

The deal Türkiye, Sweden and Finland agreed in Madrid is just the beginning of the two Nordic states' process to join NATO, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, underlining that Ankara will closely follow the implementation of the promises outlined in the document in regard to the intensified fight against terror.

Türkiye has prepared a file of 45 terrorists who the country has asked Finland and Sweden to extradite for years, but no step was taken in return.

Security units have neutralized two female PKK local leaders, Şükran Alp inside the country and Delal Azizoğlu in northern Iraq.

"In an operation in [the southeastern province of] Siirt, two terrorists were neutralized on June 17. One of them was Alp, codenamed 'Arin,'" the Interior Ministry reported on June 24.

Turkish Intelligence Organization (MİT) has neutralized a PKK ringleader, Syrian citizen Hüseyin Şibli, codenamed "Ferhat Derik," in a surgical strike in northern Iraq's province of Sulaymaniyah.

According to local reports, Şibli, who was a high-rank PKK leader in Syria, was "assigned" recently to coordinate the terrorist organization's activities in Iraq.

Members of the PKK have projected images of the terrorist organization's flag and its leader, Abdullah Öcalan, on the elevations of main public buildings in Sweden's capital Stockholm late on June 16.
