HDP open to joint presidential candidate in case of transparent negotiations: co-chair
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Mithat Sancar said his party is open to the idea of a joint presidential candidate with other opposition parties for the next presidential elections if the talks would be "transparent."
The HDP held its 5th congress in the capital Ankara on July 3.

Ex-HDP MP Güven sentenced to 22 years in prison
A court on Dec. 21 sentenced Leyla Güven, a former deputy from the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) to over 22 years in prison for being a member of an armed terrorist group and making propaganda for it twice.
The 9th Heavy Penal Court in southeastern Diyarbakir province handed Güven 22 years and three months in prison and issued an arrest warrant for her.

Opposition HDP launches march under tight security
Turkey's opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) on June 15 started the "March for Democracy against Coup" in the northwestern province of Edirne and the southeastern province of Hakkari.
The march, which aimed to end in the capital Ankara on June 20, has faced restrictions including bans on entry and exit to some provinces due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Court releases arrested former HDP lawmaker
A Turkish court on June 8 ruled in favor of releasing former opposition lawmaker Leyla Güven from prison.
Güven, who was stripped of her legislative immunity and arrested last week, had been sentenced to six years and three months for being a member of an "armed terror organization."

Detention order issued for 15 over HDP Congress
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Feb. 25 that it had launched an investigation into the fourth Ordinary Congress of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) after the party played a slideshow that featured photographs of imprisoned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan.
